Over Christmas I knitted a scarf, just for fun really. I fancied doing something useful with my hands while they weren't shovelling food into my mouth, plus it had been a while since I had picked up the needles. Knitting the scarf has made me get the bug again and I've decided that I want to try and work up to more complicated projects. Those long time Yesterday Girl readers among you may remember my adventures with the 3 Hour Sweater first and second attempts, which I was quite proud of and still wear might I add.
So, considering two years has past since then, and in that time my style has evolved to a more defined 50s look, I think I have found my next project! These pictures just epitomise the style I adore, girly, sexy and fun, and with the added novelty element....and what a name! It's a shame the picture is black and white because I would love to know what colour it was in the original pattern book.
The modern reproduction featured is a bubblegum pink, and I think I am going to stick with that or maybe a light blue. Not quite sure yet, and I can't afford to buy any wool until pay day so I have time to change my mind 100 times yet!
I will keep you posted with my progress, but I am no expert, so it may take me a while...
The pattern is in this book which you can buy here

What a fun pattern! That looks great, bonus points that it can be styled multiple ways. And probably a pretty straightforward knit if you're trying to work your way to more complicated. Looking forward to seeing how it comes along!
ReplyDeleteLooks interesting. It would be great to see the result. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHow brave and patient you are !!!
ReplyDeleteI think pink will be perfect with your hair color.
Bye bye.

Good luck. Let us see the finished project, please. Much as I'd like to be, I'm not, and never will be a knitter, I'll stick to the sewing!
ReplyDeleteI just love how "The Gimmick" is a four (or perhaps even more) in one sweater. Versatile pieces like that give one so, so much millage in your wardrobe. I bet you're going to get scads of wear out of your sweater.
ReplyDeleteHave a ton of fun knitting this year, dear gal!

I've only ever managed to knit scarves, my Griffindor one being my (unfinished) favourite. I deeply admire anyone who can follow an actual knitting pattern!
ReplyDeleteI love love love the design you've chosen, so cute.
